Crosshills FC Reserves 7-2 Skipton Town AFC Reserves
This was a fantastic start to the new season for Crosshills Reserves and not only because of the result. No less than six under 17’s started the game and the three substitutes were also only 16 years old.
The youngsters started quickly, moving the ball around well and although the first 10 minutes was quite an even contest Crosshills looked to be the better footballing side.
It was Crosshills through Oliver Stephenson who took the lead, a cheeky chip over the onrushing keeper after some good inter passing down the left. Skipton drew level through man of the match Joseph Smith but their delight was short lived when Peacock put Hills ahead again after a sweeping move was clinically started and finished by the veteran striker.
The youngsters of Crosshills never looked back as they took control of the game from then on and scored some goals of real quality. Luke Wilson on the left scored two whilst Robert Matthews who was outstanding throughout also scored. Billy Skelton and Sean Wood (two of the substitutes) also netted to show just what strength in depth is available.
Defensively Todd Duncan, another youngster in the side, and Curtis Hall were solid throughout giving a stable platform for a really positive performance.
A late consolation goal for the visitors came from Smith but did nothing to wipe the polish off this great start.
